Web Desk: Iran’s foreign minister on Saturday praised Pakistan’s leadership for its role in promoting a ceasefire and facilitating talks aimed at ending hostilities involving Iran, while both countries moved to deepen diplomatic and economic ties.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Pakistan had played a constructive role in efforts to halt fighting and create conditions for negotiations. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership, highlighting what he described as effective coordination to support dialogue.
Earlier in the day, Araghchi met Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, where he commended mediation efforts and discussed ways to sustain momentum toward de-escalation.
Subsequently, Araghchi held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad as part of ongoing high-level exchanges between the neighboring countries.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting, where officials reviewed bilateral relations and explored avenues for expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
Moreover, the discussions covered regional and international developments, reflecting shared concerns over stability and security.
During the meeting, Sharif reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening relations with Tehran. He emphasised closer coordination both bilaterally and within international forums, expressing confidence that continued engagement would serve the interests of both nations.
Meanwhile, Araghchi’s visit underscores ongoing diplomatic efforts by Iran and Pakistan to maintain close ties while addressing broader regional challenges through dialogue and cooperation.
