Social media platform Instagram has changed its logo after more than a decade. However, users began heavily criticizing the company shortly after the new design was introduced.
The company has replaced the old wordmark used for the app with a more rounded and modern design. According to Instagram, the new logo is intended to make the platform’s visual identity more modern and distinctive.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the new design, saying that the wordmark, which was more than a decade old, had begun to feel outdated over time.
According to Mosseri, the new style is more modern and clear, while retaining elements of Instagram’s original design and simplicity.
The move did not receive a particularly positive response from social media users. Several users pointed out that because of the new font and shape of the letters, “Instagram” now looks like “Instagzam” to some people, making it appear as though the company had added a “Z” to its name.
Users also criticized the new design in comments on Adam Mosseri’s post, with some using the change as an opportunity to question Meta’s priorities.
Thus, what was intended as a minor visual update sparked online debate and sarcastic reactions toward Instagram.
