AI photos and a real Nikah, former Sindh MPA’s story

Former Sindh Assembly member Ghulam Rasool Anr has become a victim of AI, according to his claim.

Ghulam Rasool Anr has filed a petition before the court of the Additional District and Sessions Judge South, seeking registration of a case against a woman.

The former assembly member said he had communicated with the woman on social media and married her without seeing her actual appearance. He said he married the woman through a video call on February 23, 2026.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Amir Nawaz Warraich, said that whenever the petitioner asked the woman to show her face, she would send pictures generated using AI. The woman was also wearing a veil on the day of the marriage. After the marriage, when the petitioner saw her, he was shocked to find that she looked completely different from the pictures.

The lawyer said the petitioner distanced himself from the woman after seeing her actual face, but the marriage remained intact. The woman allegedly posted fake pictures and posts on social media claiming that the petitioner had died. Following this, the petitioner divorced her on August 2.

The petitioner’s lawyer said a complaint had also been filed against the woman with the NCCIA. After the divorce, the woman allegedly demanded millions of rupees from the petitioner and allegedly blackmailed him and threatened to kill him.

The court issued notices to the SP Complaint Cell and the SHO Defence and sought a police report by August 17.
