In Nagpur, a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra, a symbolic protest was held during a religious festival against US tariffs on India.
Participants at the event carried a giant effigy of Trump decorated with various protest placards. According to Indian media, the slogans on the placards read that those trying to intimidate India with tariffs would end up crying before its strength.
Media reports said the effigy of Trump was made of clay and straw, dressed in a red suit, white shirt, and yellow tie, and adorned with marigold garlands and protest posters.
It is worth noting that Nagpur hosts the annual Murbat Mela, a traditional festival where giant effigies are used to symbolise the end of evil and highlight contemporary political, social, and economic issues.
Meanwhile, the United States has imposed a 50 percent tariff on India for purchasing oil from Russia. Half of this tariff has already been enforced, while the remaining 25 percent will take effect on August 27.
