NEW DELHI: Tensions have escalated across India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces mounting criticism over his silence following the failure of Operation Sandur. The operation’s defeat has sparked outrage and embarrassment for the Indian government, with opposition parties calling Modi’s inaction a “national humiliation.”
In a series of sharp remarks, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Modi of cowardice and lack of vision, saying that Modi is a coward who has no vision. “It’s a fact that Modi cannot stand before U.S. President Donald Trump,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Challenging the prime minister Modi further, Gandhi added, “If Modi has courage, he should declare that President Trump’s statements about Pakistan are false. Modi cannot deny that he personally halted Operation Sandur.”
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate also lashed out at the government, saying Trump’s statement that seven Indian aircraft were shot down has been met with complete silence from Modi. “Modi’s silence confirms Trump’s claim,” Shrinate said. “The truth is, Narendra Modi lives in constant fear of Donald Trump. Because of Modi’s cowardice, the dignity of the entire nation is at stake.”
It is pertinent to mention that during the Operation Baniyanum Marsous, Pakistan’s armed forces had given a befitting and decisive response to India, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve that its borders remain invincible.
