Web Desk: Doctors at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have successfully treated former prime minister Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi after he developed impaired vision in his right eye, medical officials said.
Earlier this week, a senior ophthalmologist from PIMS conducted a comprehensive eye examination of Khan, 74, at Adiala Jail after he complained of reduced vision. Following the assessment, doctors confirmed a diagnosis of central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye, a condition that can significantly affect eyesight if left untreated.
Subsequently, medical specialists recommended an intravitreal anti-VEGF injection, a standard treatment aimed at reducing retinal swelling and preventing further vision loss. After obtaining the patient’s informed consent, doctors carried out the procedure in an operating theater at PIMS.
According to hospital officials, the treatment was completed successfully without complications.

Meanwhile, Khan’s condition remained stable throughout and after the procedure. Doctors monitored him during recovery and later discharged him with routine post-treatment instructions and a follow-up plan.
Hospital sources said continued monitoring would be required to assess his response to the treatment and manage the condition going forward.
