Web Desk: The Mass Transit Authority has announced a 33% increase in Metro Bus fares.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, the new fares will take effect from March 26.
The fares for all BRT services, including the Pakistan Metro Bus, will be increased by Rs10.
With the increase, the Red Metro Bus fare in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan has been set at Rs40.
The authority added that people holding a Green Transport Card will receive a Rs15 discount.
Meanwhile, a Pakistan Railways spokesperson said train fares have also been increased following a 20% rise in diesel prices.
The economy class fare has been raised by 5%, while the AC class fare has increased by 10%. Pakistan Railways will bear the additional operational costs of passenger trains.
The spokesperson further said that freight train charges have been increased by 20%, and the increase has been in effect since March 9 for both freight and passenger train fares.
