Islamabad: Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced an at-home vehicle ownership transfer service, removing a major hassle for citizens seeking to transfer Islamabad-registered vehicles.
Mobile App Simplifies Verification
NADRA said motorists can now complete biometric verification for ownership transfers through the Pak ID mobile application, making the process faster and eliminating the need for in-person visits. The feature allows sellers to verify their identity using facial recognition and fingerprints directly through their smartphones.
Officials said users must download the Pak ID app, register an account and select the ICT Vehicle option under “Apply Digital Cards.” The app then displays all Islamabad-registered vehicles listed under the user’s name. After selecting the vehicle and initiating “Transfer Now,” sellers complete facial and fingerprint verification before entering the buyer’s CNIC details and submitting the application.
Buyer Completes Digital Verification
After submission, the app generates a tracking ID and PIN code, which sellers share with buyers. Buyers log in to the Pak ID app, select Vehicle Transfer under Government Services and enter the tracking details to review the application. They also complete their facial and fingerprint verification before confirming the transfer.
Once the system updates the application status, sellers can pay the transfer fee through multiple digital channels, including EasyPaisa, Raast, E-Sahulat, JazzCash and debit or credit cards. Users can then download the biometric receipt from the ID Vault section of the app.
Final Step at Excise Office
Although the biometric process is now digital, officials said buyers must still submit the biometric receipt and required documents to the Excise and Taxation Office in Islamabad to finalize the transfer. They added that the new system significantly shortens the overall process and brings a major convenience to vehicle owners.
