Web desk: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has made internships and industry-related certifications mandatory for undergraduate students in Pakistan.
This new initiative under the HEC is part of the Undergraduate Education Policy 2023, the main objective of which is to bridge the gap between education and industry and make graduates more competitive in the domestic and international job market by improving their practical skills.
According to the Higher Education Commission, most students who obtain degrees from universities do not have practical experience and are deprived of the skills and experience required in the practical field.
According to the HEC, this decision will apply to all public and private universities and degree-awarding institutions in Pakistan.
Students will be required to complete a supervised internship consisting of 3 credit hours so that they can gain experience working in a practical environment.
It will also be necessary for students to obtain industry certifications in IT, finance, construction, health and other important sectors.
According to education experts, this move will prove to be a positive change for Pakistani students, as graduates are expected to have not only academic qualifications but also practical experience and technical skills globally.
Students should plan their internships and certifications as soon as possible, so that graduation is possible on time.
This policy of HEC is expected to increase the number of skilled graduates in the country.
