Head Sidhnai

In Kamalia the Mai Safuran band at Head Sidhnai was blown up with explosives to protect the headworks.

Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Naeem Sindhu said the protective band of the Ravi River was breached to save the site.

A very high flood is present at Head Sidhnai with flow recorded at 162,000 cusecs.

Controlled breach to save Head Sidhnai

The Deputy Commissioner said the step will reduce water pressure on the headworks.

Lower pressure helps keep gates and embankments stable.

Officials described the action as a controlled breach taken after field checks. Teams will keep watching gauges and reporting levels.

The aim is to manage the flood peak safely as it moves downstream. Besides authorities said the operation focuses on protecting key structures and public safety.

Flood impact in Pirmahal Tehsil

Administration officials said the breach will divert water into nearby low lying land.

Twelve villages in Pirmahal Tehsil will be inundated. Therefore, people living in these areas have been told to shift to safer ground.

Local staff are guiding movement and helping families leave in time. Similarly, livestock owners have been advised to move herds early.

Basic support is being arranged through the local government and health teams. In addition, the district control room is coordinating updates with field officers.

Public advice and next steps

Residents have been urged to stay away from riverbanks and bands. Do not attempt to cross fast water or temporary tracks.

Additionally, keep phones charged and carry CNIC, medicines and drinking water when moving.

Follow instructions from the district administration and Rescue 1122.

Road users should allow space for evacuation vehicles. Furthermore, further decisions will be taken after regular reviews of water levels.

Moreover, officials will announce access restrictions and protective works as needed. The priority remains to protect Head Sidhnai and reduce risk to nearby communities.

Citizens are asked to cooperate fully until the danger passes.
