Web Desk: The Islamabad chief commissioner has filed a fresh miscellaneous review petition challenging the Supreme Court’s Aug. 18 order directing the transfer of former prime minister Imran Khan to a hospital, according to sources.
The new petition was filed after the registrar’s office raised objections to the earlier application, which authorities have now addressed, the sources said.
The petition argues that the Supreme Court’s decision contains legal shortcomings and that relevant jail rules were not properly considered while ordering Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital.
The chief commissioner’s office has asked the court to reconsider its Aug. 18 ruling, arguing that the authorities responsible for implementing the order were not made parties to the main proceedings.
According to the petition, the applicant has requested that the miscellaneous application be accepted and that permission be granted to seek a review of the Supreme Court’s decision.
The plea specifically asks the court to reconsider its Aug. 18 order concerning Khan’s transfer to hospital.
The development comes amid a dispute over Khan’s medical treatment while he remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail.
The Supreme Court had ordered authorities to transfer Khan to Shifa International Hospital for medical care. However, authorities later took him to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) under heightened security, citing concerns over the situation around Shifa Hospital.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Friday that Khan underwent a detailed medical examination at PIMS, with doctors from Shifa International also present, and was subsequently declared medically fit before being returned to Adiala Jail.
