Islamabad: Senator Faisal Vawda said the federal government has finalized its decision on imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), noting that the Chief Minister should meet Prime Minister and President for consultations. He warned that any obstruction from the provincial leadership could result in disqualification of the Cheif Minister as well.

Governor’s Rule Seen as Constitutional Option

Vawda emphasized that the government had already flagged governor’s rule and other restrictions as possible measures. “I informed them 45 days ago that governor’s rule could be applied if the Chief Minister does not cooperate,” he said. He described the move as a constitutional option to ensure administrative efficiency and stability in the province. Federal government views the potential governor’s rule as a tool to restore coordination and governance in KP, underscoring the federal government’s commitment to stability in the province.

Political Dynamics and Meetings

Vawda welcomed an upcoming meeting between KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the Prime Minister, calling it “a positive step” for the province. He clarified that he focuses on KP’s interests and not on personal differences with Afridi. The senator said Faisal Karim Kundi, whom he described as a friend, should remain as governor.

CDF Notification

Faisal Vawda also confirmed there is no ambiguity regarding the Chief of Defence Forces’ notification, and added that the Prime Minister’s presence will trigger its formal issuance. Vawda even offered to specify the exact date if asked, signaling that the process is nearing completion.
