Google’s Circle to Search Gets Major AI Upgrade

Circle to Search

A major update is coming to Google’s Circle to Search. The update will bring deeper AI-driven results to android phones. This feature will be first launched with Galaxy S24 Ultra.

This will allow users to highlight items in apps, videos and social media posts. Which will then enable them to search for more information.

Until now Circle to Search mainly relied on standard Google’s image search. Now with this latest update Google’s Circle to Search will use Google’s AI mode for queries.

Android Authority reports have confirmed that the update is already available to some users. It gives them access to more detailed and richer responses. Google AI system powers the responses.

Google’s AI mode is not something new. It has been appearing across Google searches for months and It offers conversational breakdowns and links to supporting sources. It provides summaries and follow-up answers on nearly every topic working similarly to ChatGPT.

This transition was previewed by Google back in July; however, this is the first time that the AI mode rollout is widely visible. For the Google app for Android this update seems to be tied to version 16.47.49.

Before this when users used Circle to Search, they would type questions into a traditional search bar. Now with the update, the AI mode will handle the entire process. It will interpret the highlighted image and answer the follow-up questions.

Android Authority shared a video of the new interface. It is important to note that on many devices the Google app might still be displaying the older version. This indicates that the rollout is gradual with no confirmation of completion deadline.

This is not the first update to Circle to Search this year. Google also introduced a translation feature earlier this year. It enabled users to translate on-screen text and menus directly within the tool.

Most users will receive the update in coming days.
