As of 30th August 2025, floods in Punjab have affected over 1.4 million residents.

More than 265,000 people have been evacuated to safer areas.

Officials say intense monsoon rains and releases from upstream dams in India swelled the Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej rivers.

Rising waters have submerged over 1,700 villages, damaging crops, homes, and livestock.

At least 17 deaths have been reported, including 13 from the latest downpour.

Authorities and the army are running rescue operations and relief camps, though many families report shortages of food and medicine.

In some districts, embankments were breached to divert water and protect major cities.

Hard-hit areas include Jhang, Shorkot, Khanewal, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Sialkot, and Narowal.

Floodwater reached the Kartarpur Sahib shrine as well.

Health teams report rising cases of waterborne illness, skin infections, malaria, and fever.
