FAISALABAD: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam is once again under fire from disappointed fans after failing to convert his fifty into a century during the ongoing Pakistan vs South Africa match in Faisalabad.
Babar was dismissed after scoring 11 runs, continuing his dry spell of centuries that now stretches to two years.
His last hundred came back in 2023 against Nepal, and since then, has failed to deliver despite being given many chances to perform.
In the second One Day International (ODI), South Africa ripped through Pakistan’s top order.
Pakistan won the toss in the second ODI being played at Iqbal Cricket Stadium in Faisalabad and had opted to bat first.
Opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for a duck, while Babar Azam scored 11 and Mohammad Rizwan managed only 4 runs before both returned to the pavilion.
The criticism flooded social media soon after his dismissal, with frustrated supporters making sarcastic remarks about his form.
One viral comment read, “Babar will get married first before he makes another century.”
Cricket followers say the former captain’s performance has become too predictable, good starts that end without impact.
Many believe he lacks the aggression needed in crunch moments, while others defend him, calling the criticism unfair given his overall consistency.
As one fan posted on X, “Two years without a century — this isn’t the Babar Azam we used to know.”
