Web Desk: Recently, allegations of mistreatment at a child care home linked to the Edhi Foundation triggered widespread concern in Pakistan. Social media influencer Taha Akram shared videos that showed poor conditions and alleged neglect at the facility. As a result, the footage spread rapidly online and drew strong public reaction.

In response, Faisal Edhi strongly rejected the claims. He said the allegations represent propaganda against the foundation. Moreover, he stated that critics are targeting both his reputation and the organization’s legacy.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Edhi Foundation continues its humanitarian services across Pakistan. He also noted that the institution has supported vulnerable communities for decades.

To address the controversy, Faisal Edhi announced an open forum at the orphanage. He explained that members of the public and media can visit the facility. Additionally, he said visitors will be able to meet children and observe conditions firsthand.

Furthermore, he stated that the foundation will present evidence to counter the allegations. In addition, he warned that legal action may follow against those spreading what he called false claims.

The organization was founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi and Bilquis Edhi. Together, they built one of the world’s largest humanitarian networks. Since then, the foundation has continued to rely heavily on public donations.

Meanwhile, their legacy remains central to Pakistan’s social welfare landscape. Their work is widely respected both nationally and internationally.

However, public reaction to the allegations remains split. Some users defended the foundation’s long history of charitable work. Others, however, shared personal accounts describing poor conditions.

In contrast, critics argued that the response focused too heavily on legal threats. Instead, they said reforms should take priority. Meanwhile, others claimed similar concerns have circulated for years without proper attention.

In addition, Zafar Abbas entered the discussion through his association with the JDC Foundation Pakistan. Consequently, the issue has intensified debate over accountability in humanitarian organizations.

Ultimately, the situation highlights growing public demand for transparency. At the same time, it shows how quickly social media can influence national discourse.
