England excessive drinking

Rob Key, England team director, has said that England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will be looking into reports of players drinking excessively during a break in the ongoing Ashes series.

As of now, Australia has won the Ashes series by winning the 3rd match test match in Adelaide on Sunday. They have a lead of 3-0 and have retained the ashes.

After the losses, the players were given a break. It has been reported that during this time, the players from both teams drank heavily throughout their stay.

A BBC interview with Rob Key was published on Tuesday. In the interview, Key said some reports might have been exaggerated. However, he also stressed that if proven, then excessive drinking is not acceptable.

Ge further clarified that the board is interested in getting the facts rather than relying on reports from untrustworthy sources. He also made it clear that the team should not have a culture of excessive drinking.

Key added, “If it’s true that it became a stag do, and people are out drinking all the time excessively, that’s not acceptable. I don’t agree with a drinking culture. I don’t like a drinking culture.”

Interestingly, before the ashes began, Key had told the players not to “get caught doing stupid things.”

The fourth test will be played on Friday in Melbourne.
