Adelaide: The playing XI of England for 3rd Ashes test against Australia at Adelaide Oval has been confirmed.
The team is mostly the same, however the visitors have made one change to their side. Gut Atkinson will be stepping away in this match. Josh Tongue will be replacing him.
England will be continued to be led by Ben Stokes. Will Jacks will be retaining his place in the XI, after being included in Brisbane for the second test.
Playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue
In red-ball cricket this will be Tongue’s first appearance for England since his final test against India, earlier this year at The Oval, in July. England lost that match by six runs.
He has played six test so far and bagged 31 wickets. Five of these wickets were taken against Australia. It is interesting to note that he played only one game against Australia.
If England plans to keep the series alive they need to win the Adelaide text match as they are trailer behind in the Ashes series 2-0.
