Web Desk: The scheme to provide electric bikes on easy installments has been officially implemented, under which a subsidy of up to Rs 80,000 is being given on electric bikes. This initiative is being taken under the Prime Minister’s Electric Vehicle Adoption Scheme, under which the process of paying subsidy for electric bikes, rickshaws and loaders has also been started.

According to the details, the government will provide a subsidy of about Rs 9 billion during the current financial year under this scheme. Government officials say that the government has set a target of providing more than Rs 100 billion in subsidies by the year 2030 to promote electric vehicles, so that more people can be provided with eco-friendly travel facilities.

The subsidy amount has been transferred to the approved applicants in the first phase of this scheme. Under Phase One, a total of 41,000 electric vehicles are being subsidized, including 40,000 electric bikes and 1,000 electric rickshaws and loaders. According to officials, this subsidy is being transferred directly to the bank accounts of the concerned individuals through the State Bank of Pakistan, to ensure transparency.

A subsidy of up to Rs 80,000 is being provided for electric bikes, while under this scheme, electric bikes and rickshaws are being provided on easy installments through the bank lease scheme. The aim of this initiative is to make it possible for the common citizens to purchase electric vehicles, so as to reduce dependence on expensive fuel.
Officials said that in the second phase of the scheme, there are plans to provide subsidies on more than 78,000 electric vehicles. It has been clarified that only registered electric vehicles will be eligible for this subsidy.

According to government officials, the main objective of this scheme is to promote affordable, sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation, which will not only reduce fuel consumption but also help reduce environmental pollution.
