Election schedule announced for Murad Saeed’s vacant seat

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for elections to the vacant seat of disqualified PTI Senator Murad Saeed. Polling will take place on April 23 in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.


According to the ECP notification, a public notice regarding the vacant seat will be issued today by the Returning Officer. Nomination papers can be submitted on April 6 and 7.


Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on April 10, and appeals against rejected papers can be filed on April 13. Hearings on the appeals will be held on April 15, and the final list of candidates will be published on April 16.


Nomination papers can be withdrawn on April 17. Polling will be held on April 23 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had declared Murad Saeed disqualified under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution, which states that a person sentenced to imprisonment for two years or more for an offence involving moral turpitude becomes ineligible to hold public office.
