The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of the historic Masjid Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar has also not received any testimony of the Shawwal moon sighting. As a result, the committee has officially announced that the 30th fast will be observed tomorrow and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday.
The local Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan stated that the Shawwal moon was not sighted, therefore Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on March 21 (Saturday).
Committee member Maulana Khair-ul-Bashar, while speaking to the media, clarified that no religious (Shariah-based) testimony regarding moon sighting was received by Masjid Qasim Ali Khan. Therefore, the 30th fast will be observed on Friday, and Eid will be celebrated on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Peshawar also officially announced that the Shawwal moon was not sighted and fully endorsed the decision of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
In a statement issued after the zonal committee’s meeting in Peshawar, it was said that no valid testimony of moon sighting was received from any part of the province. Therefore, the committee unanimously agreed with the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday.
On the other hand, the Shawwal moon for 1447 AH was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan, after which the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee officially announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across the country on March 21 (Saturday) with religious enthusiasm.
The central committee meeting held in Islamabad was chaired by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, where reports received from across the country and technical evidence were reviewed.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad stated that no Shariah-based testimony of moon sighting was received from any part of Pakistan. Therefore, it was unanimously decided that the 30th fast will be observed on Friday and Eid will be celebrated on Saturday.
