Star players Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen did not play for their teams, having just joined the squads after club duties.

Without Salah, Egypt took the lead in the 28th minute. Mohamoud Saber scored after excellent work from Zizo.

Nigeria’s Paul Onuachu tried to equalize with a header, but Egypt’s goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy made a great save. However, he failed to stop Zaidu Sanusi’s free-kick in stoppage time of the first half, and Chidozie Awaziem scored easily with a header to make it 1-1.

Egypt regained the lead in the 53rd minute when Mostafa Mohamed drilled a low shot after Nigeria’s offside trap failed, making it 2-1.

Nigeria will start their AFCON campaign against Tanzania on December 23, while Egypt face Zimbabwe a day earlier.
