Lahore: Interior and Narcotics Control Ministry has approved the resignations of four senior officials of the NCCIA (National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency) following controversy surrounding the arrest of popular YouTuber Ducky Bhai.
Resignations approved, officers removed
According to official notifications, the resignations of four NCCIA officers were formally accepted, resulting in their removal from their respective posts. The decision was implemented after approval from the Interior Ministry, authorities said.
Those relieved of duty include Deputy Director Muhammad Sarfraz Chaudhry, along with Assistant Directors Muhammad Usman, Shoaib Riaz and Asma Majeed.
Effective date and notification issued
Officials said the acceptance of the resignations has been made effective retroactively from Nov. 20, 2025. Subsequently, NCCIA headquarters in Islamabad issued a formal notification confirming the development.
Although authorities did not provide detailed reasons in the notification, the resignations follow scrutiny over the agency’s handling of the arrest of YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai.
Background of the case
The arrest of the high-profile content creator had drawn public attention and sparked debate on social media, placing the cybercrime agency under increased pressure.
The Interior Ministry did not immediately comment on whether further administrative or legal action is being considered. However, officials said the matter remains under review as authorities seek to address concerns surrounding the case and reinforce accountability within the cybercrime investigation framework.
