Web Desk: Pakistan kicked off a landmark 5G spectrum auction on Tuesday, offering nearly 600 MHz of bandwidth in a move expected to transform the country’s digital landscape. Officials said the auction represents one of the largest expansions of telecom capacity in Pakistan’s history.

Telecom experts highlighted that 5G connectivity will enable faster internet speeds, more reliable digital infrastructure, and new opportunities across sectors including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, remote work, startups and digital exports.

“With over 200 million telecom subscribers and more than 150 million broadband users, Pakistan is well-positioned to leverage 5G for its digital transformation,” said a government spokesperson.

Industry analysts noted that the spectrum rollout is expected to attract both domestic and international investment, supporting innovation hubs and enabling companies to develop advanced digital solutions.

“This is not just an auction; it is a gateway to Pakistan’s digital future,” the spokesperson added.

The auction signals the country’s commitment to modernising its telecommunications network and strengthening its position in the regional digital economy.
