Dengue Outbreak , Virus Confirmed in 972 People

The District Health Authority in Rawalpindi has released its performance report on Dengue this year. According to the report, 14,311 people have been tested for dengue so far, out of which 972 dengue cases have been confirmed. 24 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. The number of patients being treated for dengue has reached 60, however, fortunately, no deaths from the virus were reported in Rawalpindi this year. The larvae eradication campaign is also underway by the District Health Authority, under which more than 57 lakh houses have been checked so far. Meanwhile, the presence of dengue larvae has been confirmed in 180,947 households. Additionally, 1,577,940 sites were screened, of which 24,424 were found to be larvae. A total of 2,5371 larvae have been caught during larval eradication to prevent the spread of the virus. The Department of Health has taken strict action against violators of SOPs. So far 4,509 FIRs have been registered, 1,858 places have been sealed and 3,521 persons or entities have been challaned. Violators have been fined more than Rs.19,86,000/-. The Department of Health Rawalpindi says it will continue its campaign to eradicate dengue and citizens are also requested to take special care of cleanliness and ensure implementation of SOPs to root out dengue.
