Web desk: Commissioner Lahore Division Maryam Khan chaired a meeting to evaluate the performance of cleanliness operations under the Suthra Punjab programme on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasised that both urban and rural division areas must strictly follow the standard operating procedure. She asked the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to share a detailed report on the issue of door-to-door waste collection.
She further advised the company to prepare a solid plan to ensure 100 per cent coverage for households or shops.
The Commissioner also instructed the deployment of extra staff in rural areas to handle the cleanliness needs.
The Commissioner stressed that the towns of Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, and Kasur are equally important as Lahore city in the government drive of cleanliness. CM Punjab aimed to improve the sanitation and hygiene in both cities and villages.
She said all districts must follow the Suthra Punjab contracts to make sure all people in the province get equal municipal services.
Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) CEO Babar Sahibdin gave a detailed briefing, saying the company is currently operating in nine towns, forty-nine zones, and two hundred seventy-four union councils of Lahore. He said route mapping for over three thousand five hundred vehicles has been completed, while seven hundred thirty-seven containers are being tracked in real time.
This meeting was attended by DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza, CEO LWMC Babar Sahibdin, Director Development Javed Chauhan, Deputy Director Tayyab Ahmad, and other officials. The Deputy Commissioners of Kasur, Nankana Sahib, and Sheikhupura joined the session through video link.
