Pakistan signed six cooperation agreements in China, including a first ever Thar coal gasification and fertiliser project.

Energy and industry deals aim to boost self reliance and create jobs across multiple provinces

PPP Senator Saleem Mandviwala said the most notable outcome is an MoU for a Coal Gasification and Fertiliser Plant in Thar, Sindh.

The project will tap local coal to strengthen the energy mix and produce inputs for agriculture.

Additional agreements cover livestock modernisation, a textile industrial park, supply and servicing of fire trucks and emergency equipment, and waste and tyre recycling in Karachi.

Officials stressed that these commitments are national in scope and not limited to one province.

The agenda also included talks to expand and reinvigorate the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Mandviwala called President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China a milestone.

He said Zardari became the first foreign head of state to receive such an invitation.

Chinese briefings covered aerospace advances that include the J-10 fighter jet, JF-17 co production, J-20 stealth aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, and multi domain command tools.

He added that the exchanges could pave the way for future agreements on advanced capabilities.

Chinese leaders also voiced satisfaction with the results of Operation Bunyan um Marsoos, including the performance of Chinese made aircraft.

Provincial level outreach underscores strategic depth as the trip spans key Chinese regions

Presidential spokesperson Murtaza Solangi said the second tour focused on provincial engagement after an earlier visit with President Xi Jinping.

The itinerary included Shanghai, Urumqi, Kashgar, and Sichuan, with sector meetings on agriculture, public health, biotechnology, food security, transport, and education.

Zardari also became the first Pakistani head of state to visit Kashgar.

The Chinese ambassador to Pakistan accompanied him throughout the trip on instructions from Beijing, which Solangi called a sign of close ties.

Officials concluded that the visit builds on Zardari’s previous tenure and now cements a comprehensive strategic partnership.
