Former Pakistani captain Babar Azam was rumoured to be in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where Pakistan is playing the Asia Cup.
It is pertinent to mention that he is not part of the squad, yet speculations were rife about his presence. Some even suggested that Babar might join the team for the match against India.
He failed to make it to the Pakistan squad for the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 as the former champions shift their focus to grooming youngsters ahead of next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
However, Pakistan’s interim red-ball head coach Azhar Mahmood cleared the air by sharing a picture with Babar Azam.
“Breaking news: Babar spotted in Dubai… oh wait, that’s just him slicing another superb golf shot on a beautiful golf course here in Lahore,” Mahmood wrote on X, formerly Twitter, with laughing emojis.

Mike Hesson previously stated, Babar has to work on his strike rate and improve his skills to match modern-day standards of the T20 format. Until that requirement is achieved, Azam will have to wait on the sidelines.
