Web Desk: Islamabad An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has declared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other provincial ministers proclaimed offenders in cases registered against them and warned them of legal action if they fail to appear within 30 days.
As per the court order, proclamations have been issued against Chief Minister Sohail Afridi as well as the other provincial ministers Meena Khan, Shafi Jan, Amjad Ali and Iqbal Afridi. All are declared absconders in two cases registered by Islamabad Police and they have been directed to present themselves before the court within 30 days in case of failing further legal proceedings will be started.
According to media reports the cases come from a protest that held on November 26, 2024, for which an FIR was lodged at Ramna police station. Police said that the cases include charges of attacks on police, terrorism and Ranger’s personnel and other serious offences.
In the case Islamabad claimed that around 80 percent of PTI members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly are facing cases registered in Islamabad. Police officials further added that 70 PTI MPAs are wanted in various cases filed at 18 different police stations between 2022 and November 2024, with most of them yet to obtain bail.
The police records show that CM KP Sohail Afridi is wanted in 11 cases and seven of which have been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act including cases related to attacks on police officials.
