RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Asif Afridi made a remarkable entry into international cricket by setting a unique record in his debut Test match against South Africa.
The 38-year-old spinner became the oldest cricketer to take five wickets on debut, surpassing a record that had stood for nearly a century. Previously, England’s Charles Marriott held the record, achieving the feat in 1933 at the age of 37 years and 332 days.
At the start of the Rawalpindi Test, Asif Afridi was 38 years and 299 days old, making his performance even more special. His exceptional spell not only helped Pakistan gain an edge in the match but also etched his name in cricket history.
