Apple iPhones in Pakistan

Apple is set to start manufacturing iPhones in Pakistan, following the introduction of a new Mobile and Electronics Manufacturing Policy by the Ministry of Industries and Production.

According to officials, the framework includes discounted land and an 8 per cent concession on certain expenses.

ThE Policy was developed at Apple’s request. Additionally, it provides a great range of incentives to encourage local production.

And a requirement for Apple to refurbish older iPhones for export. In its first year, exports of refurbished iPhones are expected to generate around $100 million.

The program will also focus on refurbishing 2–3-year-old iPhones. It is expected to follow a model similar to Apple’s existing operations in Indonesia, Malaysia, and India.

The policy is also expected to increase the use of locally sourced components in Apple devices.

Currently, only 12 per cent of components are sourced locally. However, the government wants to raise this to 35 per cent initially, with a longer-term target of 50 per cent.

In addition to iPhones, the framework is expected to attract investment in other electronics.

This includes laptops, tablets, wearables, and mobile parts. Chinese companies are anticipated to invest approximately $557 million under this initiative.

Officials said the policy is designed to strengthen Pakistan’s electronics manufacturing sector, create jobs, and boost exports while establishing the country as a regional hub for Apple products.

More than 2.5 billion Apple devices now in use

Apple’s reach continues to grow as the company revealed that more than 2.5 billion Apple devices are now actively in use worldwide. This marks another major milestone for the Cupertino based tech giant.

The figure was shared alongside Apple’s latest earnings results. This showed strong momentum across its products and services.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the expanding installed base reflects high customer satisfaction and ongoing demand for the company’s devices and digital offerings.
