Web Desk: Multan Sultans co-owner Ali Tareen has decided to part ways with the Pakistan Super League franchise, saying he cannot remain associated with the team at the cost of compromising his principles.
He said that if staying meant “letting go of my values,” then he had only one choice to walk away.

Emotional Farewell to Iconic Franchise

Tareen noted that leaving Multan Sultans was one of the toughest decisions of his career. He added that he would rather “lose the team standing on my feet than run it on my knees,” underscoring that integrity guided his move.
Calling his time with the franchise the greatest honour of his life, Tareen said representing South Punjab carried deep personal meaning, especially as it was a cause his late uncle, Alamgir Tareen, cherished.

Team Holds Deeper Value

He said Multan Sultans stood for more than statistics or financial considerations. Despite losses over the years, he insisted he had never entertained the idea of stepping away.
Moreover, he emphasised that the franchise symbolised the passion of the region and the loyalty of its supporters.

Support for Future Leadership

Tareen vowed to support whoever assumes control of the team next, saying the Sultans belong “more to the fans and to South Punjab than to any owner.”
The decision marks a significant transition for one of PSL’s most successful teams, while Tareen’s departure adds a poignant chapter to the franchise’s history.
