Islamabad: Alektra has entered Pakistan’s electric vehicle market with the launch of its Alektra Metro EV, a compact, low-budget car aimed at urban commuters. The company introduced both 2-door and 4-door variants, offering three battery configurations and a promotional discount for early buyers.

The launch, shared through PakWheels, comes as rising fuel costs and import restrictions push more consumers toward electric mobility. However, questions remain over charging infrastructure and long-term durability.

Battery Options and Driving Range

Alektra has equipped the Metro lineup with three lithium battery choices: 7.2 kWh, 10.8 kWh, and 12.96 kWh. Depending on the configuration, the company claims a driving range between 80 km and 180 km on a full charge.

The EV charges through a standard 220V home outlet and requires between 5 and 7 hours for a full recharge. It produces 2.68 horsepower and reaches a maximum speed of 45–50 km/h, reinforcing its positioning as a city-centric commuter car.

Pricing and Promotional Discounts

The 2-door Metro starts at Rs. 1.095 million, while the 4-door version begins at Rs. 1.295 million. A flat Rs. 50,000 discount applies to all variants booked before November 30, 2025.

Final prices after discount range from Rs. 1.045 million for the entry-level 2-door 7.2 kWh model to Rs. 1.345 million for the top-tier 4-door 12.96 kWh model.

Booking Process and Delivery Timeline

Alektra has set the booking amount at 20 percent of the invoice price. Customers are being offered an estimated delivery period of 90 days. Bookings are currently open at the company’s outlet in Park & Ride Plaza, Liberty Roundabout, Gulberg III, Lahore.

Exterior and Interior Features

The Metro’s exterior includes LED lighting, alloy rims, a sunroof ventilation feature, and a choice of six colors: white, cream, pink, yellow, red, and blue. Its compact dimensions — 2450 x 1250 x 1650 mm — are designed to suit congested urban environments.

Inside, the EV comes equipped with air conditioning, a heater, push-start and key-start options, Bluetooth connectivity, and a multimedia system. Alektra says the cabin can comfortably accommodate small families.

Performance and Safety Features

The Metro offers basic electric driving functions with reverse, neutral, and drive modes. Safety features include an anti-theft alarm, a built-in sound alert system, remote start, and a reverse camera.

Alektra is offering a two-year warranty covering the battery and motor, including repair or replacement.

Market Prospects and Challenges

The arrival of the Metro EV underscores growing consumer interest in electric alternatives as petrol prices fluctuate. However, analysts note that the success of small EVs in Pakistan depends on reliable after-sales service, strong warranties, and improvements in charging access.

For now, the Alektra Metro enters the market as one of the most affordable EV options available, but its long-term acceptance will hinge on real-world performance and consumer confidence in electric mobility.
