Web Desk: Pakistani job seekers aiming to work in Germany must ensure their academic credentials are properly verified under the country’s official recognition system, authorities said, highlighting the process as critical for visa approval and employment access.
In a statement, the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment urged applicants to confirm that their qualifications meet German standards before applying for jobs or visas.
At the center of the process is the Anabin database, maintained by the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB), which evaluates foreign degrees and institutions. Officials said accurate verification through this system not only speeds up administrative procedures but also strengthens an applicant’s credibility.
Candidates must check both their degree-awarding institution and their specific qualification on the Anabin portal. Institutions with an “H+” status are fully recognized, while those marked “H+/-” may only have certain programs accepted. Moreover, the degree itself must be equivalent to German standards.
For visa processing, applicants are required to submit two printouts from Anabin — one confirming institutional status and the other verifying degree equivalency. In addition, Pakistani candidates must obtain attestation of their degrees and transcripts from the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan).
If a university or degree is not listed in Anabin or lacks clear information, applicants must request a “Statement of Comparability” from ZAB, a process that can take up to three months. Authorities therefore advised candidates to begin the procedure well in advance.
Furthermore, officials noted that regulated professions such as medicine, law and teaching require additional licensing from relevant German authorities, while general professions typically require only standard recognition.
Authorities emphasized that completing all requirements accurately and on time can help applicants avoid delays and improve their chances of successfully entering Germany’s labor market.
