Web desk: Since June 26, at least 657 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents across Pakistan, while another 929 have been injured, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The authority said that the deaths and injuries were caused by monsoon downpours, flash floods and related hazards, and added that it is working with provincial administrations to step up rescue and relief work in badly affected areas.
The single heaviest toll has been recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 390 people have died. These included 288 men, 59 children and 43 women. The province also reported 245 injured, among them 161 men, 45 children and 39 women.
In Punjab, 164 deaths have been confirmed. The victims included 70 children, 63 men and 31 women, while 582 people were injured, with 225 men, 182 women and 175 children among them.
The situation in Gilgit-Baltistan has also been serious, where 32 people have died, including 18 men, 6 women and 8 children, while 31 others were injured.
Balochistan has so far reported 20 deaths, 11 children, 5 men and 4 women, along with 4 injuries.
In Sindh, the NDMA confirmed 28 deaths, including 14 children, 10 men and 4 women, while 40 people were injured. Among the injured, 27 were children, 7 men and 6 women.
The region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) recorded 15 fatalities, with the toll equally divided between 5 men, 5 women and 5 children. It also reported 24 injuries, 15 men, 6 women and 3 children.
The Islamabad Capital Territory has reported the lowest numbers, with 8 deaths since June 26. The victims were 4 children, 3 men and 1 woman, while 3 people were injured, including 2 children and 1 woman.

Overall, the NDMA highlighted that the toll includes 392 men, 171 children and 94 women, reflecting the wide human impact of the ongoing rains and flooding across the country.
The NDMA has cautioned that heavy rains expected on Monday could trigger flooding and landslides in several regions of Pakistan.
Urban flooding is likely in parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot and surrounding districts. While Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may face thunderstorms in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera and neighbouring areas, with heavier rainfall forecast for southern districts such as DI Khan, Tank and Bannu.
The agency also warned of possible landslides and floods in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot, as well as in Gilgit-Baltistan, where Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza and other mountainous districts are at risk.
