Baigan may help with weight loss

Aubergine (baigan) is a low-calorie and a fiber-packed vegetable and it can help you in your weight loss journey.

With just 25 calories per 100 grams and 90 per cent water content, it fills you up without weighing you down.

The French Institute of Health and Medical Research highlights that regular fibre intake can aid digestion and reduce visceral fat, making aubergines a smart choice for overall wellbeing.

Because aubergines soak up oil like sponges, it’s best to steer clear of deep-frying.

Baigan may protect against neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease, the most common type of dementia. They are a source of nasunin, which can protect cells from damage that leads to premature aging and disease.

Eggplants may offer protection against heart disease. Anthocyanins help prevent the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. High LDL (“bad”) cholesterol can lead to artery hardening. This side effect can lead to either heart attack or stroke.

Eggplants are a source of several minerals and vitamins, including manganese, folate, and potassium. Manganese is essential for the breakdown of carbohydrates, cholesterol, and glucose (sugar). It also helps form bones and supports immune function.

Folate aids in the production of DNA and red blood cells. It also helps prevent birth defects during pregnancy. Potassium is an electrolyte that assists heart, muscle, and nerve function.
