Rain falls in different parts of Islamabad amid ongoing monsoon showers

WEBDESK: Rain with thunderstorms is currently falling in Islamabad and many other parts of Pakistan, and is expected to continue today. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the ongoing spell of rain will likely persist in most areas of the country.

Showers are being reported in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Sialkot, with more expected later in the day. Rain is also falling in Musakhel, Barkhan, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Zhob, Karachi, Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore, Dadu, Tharparkar, Thatta, Khuzdar, and Lasbela.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rains and floods have already claimed three lives, including that of a woman.

Rain is also expected in Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, and nearby areas. Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, and Mansehra are also likely to receive more rain, along with strong winds and thunderstorms in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The seventh spell of the monsoon has begun, with rain recorded at several locations. The PMD has warned that some cities could face urban flooding.

Authorities have urged the public to take precautionary measures to avoid possible accidents during the rain.
