Web desk: Google has celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a special doodle on its homepage for users in the country.

The animated illustration features the green-and-white national flag waving against a bright blue sky. This is the national flag of Pakistan.

The flag is subtly merged into the word ‘Google.’ Which then naturally blends with the background.

If you click on the doodle, you will be taken to search results highlighting the day’s significance. Including historical accounts of Pakistan’s creation, patriotic songs, videos, updates, and news reports.

Google sometimes updates its doodle to honour important events and occasions worldwide.

In previous years, the doodle has featured landmarks like Karachi’s Frere Hall and cultural symbols such as Pakistan’s famous mangoes. This year, the focus is on the flag, representing national pride in a simple yet powerful way.

In a statement, Google said: “On this day in 1947, Pakistan gained independence and became a sovereign nation. This public holiday also commemorates the deeds and legacies of Pakistan’s founders.”

An alternate version of the search results page even replaces the double ‘O’s in ‘Google’ with the Pakistani flag.

Today, Pakistanis are celebrating the nation’s 78th Independence Day with patriotic enthusiasm. This year’s celebrations are particularly spirited following the country’s recent victory in Marka-e-Haq, a major military operation against India.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in each provincial capital. Special prayers were offered in mosques across the country.

Radio Pakistan, Pakistan Television, and private media channels are airing special programmes to mark the occasion.
