Web desk: In a significant development, the Anti-Terrorism Court has announced its verdict in the May 9 case.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge delivered the decision at Kot Lakhpat Jail. The court sentenced four Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to 10 years in prison each.
Those convicted are Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, Mehmood Al-Rasheed and Umar Sarfraz Cheema.

PTI Vice President Shah Mehmood Qureshi was acquitted in both cases. Alia Hamza Malik and Sanam Javed were sentenced to 5 years in prison each.

In the case of burning vehicles near Jinnah House, statements of 65 government witnesses were recorded. Seventeen accused were tried, while seven were declared absconders and one had died.

In the case of setting Shadman police station on fire, police filed a challan against 41 accused. Twenty-five were tried, 15 were declared absconders and one had died. A total of 45 witnesses gave statements.

The ATC had reserved the verdict on 9 August.
