The fifth edition of the European Union Film Festival (EUFF) will be held in Pakistan this month, featuring selected European films in Islamabad, Sialkot and Jamshoro from September 12 to 30.
Organised by the Delegation of the European Union in Pakistan, the festival will begin in Islamabad on September 12 and 13, where films will be screened at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).
The second phase of the festival will take place in Sialkot on September 16 and 17. This will be the first time the European Film Festival is being held in Sialkot, with screenings scheduled at Government College Women University and The Grid.
The third and final phase will be held in Jamshoro on September 29 and 30, hosted by the Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University of Art, Design and Heritages.
The detailed programme for this year’s festival has not yet been announced. However, the previous edition featured feature-length and short films from various European Union countries, as well as special screenings for children and families.
Along with film screenings, the festival has also featured interactive installations, dramatic readings, social dances and food stalls. Last year, the festival was free for the public and attracted students, families, artists, diplomats and film enthusiasts.
The European Film Festival aims to promote connections and dialogue between different societies and cultures through cinema. Previous editions have also been held in various Pakistani cities, including Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit, Faisalabad, Gujrat and Multan.
