An important conference was held in Islamabad to mark the completion of five years of Taliban rule. The conference was organized in collaboration with the Institute of Regional Studies and South Asia Times.
The conference was attended by representatives of policy circles, think tanks, Afghanistan experts, domestic and foreign observers, policymakers, diplomatic officials and professionals from various fields.
The conference declaration stated that, even after five years, the Taliban government has failed to introduce an inclusive system of governance. It added that the claims of establishing an inclusive government and ensuring basic human rights have also not been fulfilled.
The Shura system remains weak, and the Afghan people are bearing the consequences of the government’s failures.
According to the declaration, the Taliban regime, which claims to follow Shariah, appears to be heavily influenced by Takfiri ideologies. It said that the Taliban, who claim to be proponents of so-called Shariah, have become the biggest supporters of the Khawarij.
Tensions between the Kabul and Kandahar factions have also intensified due to serious ideological differences.
The declaration described the situation of women as alarming, stating that they have been deprived of access to education and employment. It added that the Taliban government has also failed to address the concerns of the regional and international community.
According to the conference declaration, the Taliban regime has also failed on the economic front, leaving the Afghan people to suffer from inflation and unemployment.
The declaration said that the TTP, Islamic State Khorasan, BLA and other terrorist groups continue to operate in Afghanistan, leaving Pakistan and other neighboring countries vulnerable to terrorism emanating from the country.
According to the conference declaration, Afghan armed resistance movements have also intensified their activities following what it described as oppression by the Taliban government.
Resistance groups expanded the scope of their operations this year from the northern areas to key parts of the country, while Taliban targets were attacked in large numbers across Afghanistan, including in Kabul, Kandahar and Kunduz.
Participants agreed that the Taliban government has failed on every front during the past five years, including security, governance and diplomacy.
