The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has demanded the immediate deployment of additional platoons of the Federal Constabulary in Bannu and Lakki Marwat in view of the security situation created by the so-called police peace committees.
According to the letter, the security situation in both districts has been described as alarming due to threats to officers, obstruction of official movement, closure of roads, firing, and the withdrawal of police personnel from sensitive installations.
The police have recommended the deployment of a total of nine platoons of the Federal Constabulary in Bannu and Lakki Marwat. A request has been made for the deployment of four platoons in Lakki Marwat and five in Bannu.
According to the letter, the additional personnel will be deployed for the security of important and sensitive locations, including the district jail, judicial complex, district administration, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Bannu High Court Bench, and grid stations.
According to officials, the purpose of deploying additional security personnel is to prevent any untoward incident, protect important installations, and ensure the safety of the lives and property of the public
