EOBI has issued a clarification regarding demands circulating on social media for an immediate increase in pensions, urging pensioners and the public not to believe unverified reports on social media.
In its clarification, the EOBI spokesperson said that any increase in pensions is subject to the financial position of the pension fund and an actuarial review.
In August 2025, after a gap of approximately one and a half years, EOBI increased pensions by 15 percent. The minimum monthly pension was increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 11,500.
According to the spokesperson, billions of rupees were paid to pensioners as arrears following the pension increase.
EOBI further stated that there is currently no confirmed announcement pertaining to immediate additional increase in pensions.
The spokesperson also urged pensioners to verify any claims about pension increases through official EOBI channels to avoid confusion caused by fake or unverified information circulating on social media.
