Web Desk: Pakistan has issued an important notice for citizens holding academic qualifications from educational institutions in Afghanistan, stating that such degrees will not be accepted as educational credentials by government or private-sector organisations in the country.
Under the decision, individuals will not be able to use degrees obtained from Afghan educational institutions to qualify for employment in Pakistan.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will also not attest or verify degrees issued by educational institutions in Afghanistan, according to the notice.
As a result, Pakistani citizens who have obtained academic qualifications from Afghanistan may face restrictions when seeking jobs or having their educational credentials recognised by institutions in Pakistan.
The decision means Afghan-issued academic qualifications will not serve as recognised credentials for employment across Pakistan’s public or private sectors.
Therefore, individuals planning to pursue education in Afghanistan with the intention of using those qualifications for employment in Pakistan may need to reconsider their plans in light of the latest policy.
The announcement also places HEC attestation at the centre of the recognition process, as degrees that the commission does not verify would not meet the credential requirements of organisations relying on officially attested qualifications.
