Senior Pakistani actor Noman Ijaz has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer and said Surah Rahman played a major role in his recovery.
The veteran actor made the revelation during a recent interview, where he spoke about his battle with cancer.
Noman said he was diagnosed with cancer near his ear in 2024. He recalled that on the day he learned about his diagnosis, he looked towards the sky during prayer and said, “I have never wronged anyone, nor have I taken anyone’s rights.”
He said Allah sends people into the world for a purpose. “I told Allah that if You need me, call me immediately. I do not want to see my family suffer,” he said.
Noman said he prayed that he did not want to make repeated trips to hospitals or undergo painful procedures such as chemotherapy.
“I would read a lot every night and sleep hoping that I would not wake up in the morning,” he said.
The actor said that after people learned about his cancer, a close friend advised him to recite Surah Rahman.
“Since that day, I have recited Surah Rahman every day. I believe it played a major role in saving me,” he said.
Noman said he later underwent a successful operation, during which the tumour was removed.
He said his first chemotherapy session was scheduled for July 23, 2024. However, doctors called him on July 22 and told him they had found no trace of the disease.
“They told me there was nothing there, so chemotherapy was not needed,” he said.
