Web Desk: A death rumor concerning renowned Pakistani actor Imran Ashraf, circulating on social media, left his fans worried, prompting the actor himself to issue a clarification.
A purported AI-generated video recently went viral on social media, claiming that Imran Ashraf had passed away. Following this, the actor shared a story on the social media platform Instagram, denying the report.
In his story, the actor wrote: “Alhamdulillah, I am absolutely fine, and the news about my death circulating on social media is fake.”
Following the emergence of the fake news about Imran Ashraf, social media users also expressed concern over misleading content being created through AI and urged people not to share sensitive news without verification.
The AI-generated video clip being aired on TikTok showed that a newscaster on a private TV channel was breaking the news of Ashraf’s death, claiming that the actor had passed away due to heart attack.
In recent days other celebrities have also become victims of such rumors. In June, singer Tahira Syed, after hearing news of her death on the internet, posted that she was “absolutely fine” and urged people to shun posting fake news.
Similarly, a month ago, Actor and Host Tauseeq Haider and Farah Sadia reacted strongly to the internet for sharing a video of their wedding. In a video clip, the duo responded to the speculations and declared the wedding pictures and news fake.
It may be noted that Imran Ashraf is among Pakistan’s popular actors. He particularly rose to fame for his character Bhola in the drama Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. He is also hosting the popular comedy programme Mazaaq Raat.
