Web Desk: Supreme Court has ordered that former Prime Minister Imran Khan be transferred from custody to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad on Tuesday, according to local media reports.
The court directed authorities to move Khan to the hospital the same day and said doctors Faisal Sultan and Uzma Khan would accompany him during the transfer.
The Supreme Court issued the directions in proceedings concerning Khan’s request for medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital.
According to the court order cited by local reports, Khan’s medical care at the hospital will be provided at his own expense.
The ruling comes after Khan had sought the court’s intervention to allow him to receive treatment at the Islamabad hospital. Dawn reported in June that the former prime minister had approached the Supreme Court seeking his transfer from jail to Shifa International Hospital.
Khan, who was removed from office in 2022, has remained in custody while facing multiple legal cases. His supporters have repeatedly raised concerns about his health and access to medical care.
The latest court order provides for his transfer to a private hospital while maintaining his custody status.
The Supreme Court’s decision marks a significant development in the former premier’s ongoing legal and political battles. Details of the medical condition prompting the latest transfer order were not immediately available.
