Web Desk: Lahore’s Metro Bus Service is set to suspend all operations from August 11 after its private operator, VEDA, warned that it could no longer continue services without a reliable fuel supply.

VEDA has issued a final notice to the Punjab Masstransit Authority, saying its financial resources have been exhausted and it is unable to sustain operations under the current circumstances.

According to the notice, the company decided to halt the service because it has not received an uninterrupted supply of fuel needed to operate the buses.

VEDA said the Punjab Masstransit Authority had failed to resolve the fuel supply issue despite the company’s concerns.

The operator also referred to a court order, saying that unless fuel supplies are ensured in accordance with the order, it would not be able to continue running the service.

Consequently, the suspension from Aug. 11 could disrupt daily travel for thousands of commuters who rely on Lahore’s Metro Bus network.

The announcement comes amid an ongoing dispute over the resources required to keep the public transport service operational. The company has made clear that it will resume or continue operations only if the fuel supply issue is resolved.
