The Punjab government has rejected reports claiming that summer vacations in educational institutions have been extended until August 31, saying no such proposal is currently under consideration.
Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said no official notification has been issued regarding an extension of the holidays. Schools across the province will remain closed until August 23, with educational activities scheduled to resume from August 24.
The government said there is currently no flood situation in Punjab’s rivers that would require schools to remain closed. To help students recover academically from the holiday period, authorities have also planned a one-month remedial learning camp.
The minister directed all schools not to reopen before August 24.
In recent days, multiple social media posts and WhatsApp messages are being circulat that holidays were being extended due to weather conditions and other reasons.
However, the Punjab government stated that no such summary is under consideration, and no notification has been issued in this regard. Authorities warned that spreading unverified information can create unnecessary confusion among students and parents.
