Web Desk: Chinese automaker GWM, through its local partner Sazgar Group, has launched the all-electric ORA 5 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Pakistan, expanding its electric vehicle portfolio as competition intensifies in the country’s emerging EV market.
The ORA 5 becomes the third model in GWM’s ORA series to enter Pakistan, positioned between the ORA 3 and the premium ORA 7.
The launch comes as automakers increasingly introduce electric vehicles in Pakistan, where demand for cleaner mobility options is gradually rising alongside government efforts to encourage EV adoption.
Priced at an ex-factory rate of Rs8.599 million, the ORA 5 is available for booking with a down payment of Rs1.7 million, the company said.
The ORA 5 is powered by a 58.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a driving range of up to 435 kilometres under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) standard.
The vehicle features a single front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 201 horsepower and 260 Newton metres of torque. According to the company, it accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in eight seconds.
The ORA 5 will compete in Pakistan’s premium electric SUV segment against Chinese rivals including the BYD Atto 3 and the Jaecoo J6, both of which are positioned in a similar price range.
GWM said the ORA 5 comes equipped with a 14.6-inch 2K touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 50-watt fast wireless phone charger.
The vehicle also includes a 360-degree surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, a driver monitoring system, a panoramic glass roof, an electric tailgate and a heat pump air-conditioning system.
The introduction of the ORA 5 strengthens GWM’s presence in Pakistan’s fast-evolving electric vehicle market, where Chinese manufacturers are expanding their product offerings amid growing consumer interest in battery-powered vehicles and increasing competition in the premium EV segment.
